Throttle by Wire
Here you can see the throttle grip being twisted but no movement from the throttles. The only thing the throttle grip moves is a throttle position sensor. The position of the TPS is interpreted and cross-referenced with other data, run through feedback loops and algorithms before the computer tells the motors how far to open the throttles.

Hey, I've been looking for an answer everywhere but couldn't find one. You seem pretty knowledgeable on the 1200 so here it goes.
ReplyDeletePCV installed (where I get the % numbers), PAIR system removed, Guhl re-flash done. When checking things, the butterflies open smoothly to 24% then hang. I keep winding the throttle and once it is pretty well at the stop, the butterflies snap open to 100%.
Checks show no mechanical hangups on the butterfly linkages. All connections made. It happens regardless if the PCV is wired into the system or not. But there is the pposi-tap into the wire o the TPS ...... I'm about to cut that section out, repair the tapped portion and solder the PCV wire into place. Thoughts?
Hey sorry to bother you, what did you do finally? I have a vfr1200f with the same problem and it seems like the only solution is to change the entire throttle body.
